This is supposed to be an anonymous app for college students. All the handles and censoring has killed the fun.

I hate how much time I sink into this stupidly wonderful app. Its better at college though.

I like having the option of a handle, but it gets annoying when Im trying to be anonymous and I keep having to manually turn off my handle because sometimes Im forgetful and the last thing i want to have to remember to look out for each time I make a post is whether or not I have my handle on. Sometimes its too late. Many time Ive been having an anonymous conversation and I forget to turn the switch for my handle off bc I jump the gum and post my comment without thinking about it. There should either be a setting that remembers what you last picked for handle visibility on a post (instead of having to manually switch it off every time you make a comment) or have an option in the settings where you can chose to automatically have the switch flipped to handle on or handle off each time you make a new post or comment (because the normal setting is to always have it on and maybe some people would rather the deaf sit be to always have it off). Great app otherwise.

The chat feature has ruined the app. Dont bother downloading.

Just recently updated the app and every time I click on it, it opens then closes immediately.

The last vestiges of anonymity have been stripped from this app with the phone number verification requirement, which threatens to link every yak to every users individual phone number. Yak with caution because an Ashley Madison style hack could suddenly make you undateable and unemployable.

Now just a poor cousin to Twitter and Reddit...

I have had some funny conversations using this app & I really like the concept but the experience is so easily ruined when a couple of people band together & decide to act like jerks. The way this app functions puts the power in the hands of trolls & a-holes. That in combination with all the new updates, like the chat feature, the user names, etc. make it pretty sucky.

I deleted it a while back but now its not letting me redownload the app

Youd think with less people on it, itd be less offensive, but its just getting worse. New versions also very buggy. Rip

I basically stopped using it when I saw someone post a link to child porn. Never again!!

PLEASE make an update where people cant upvote their own stuff. Its annoying. Especially when the posts are stupid and you want them out of there as soon as possible. We need this done ASAP. Please and great app besides that.

This app is not used like it is advertised, at least not in my area. Crude comments are made with lots of references to cheating, loose sex, drugs, and various other behaviors. Some posts are downright mean and while they dont call people by name, they do identify people based on clothes/appearance/location, etc. And a lot of what is said is mean or hurtful. I deleted within hours of installing.

I just updated the app, and it wont open now. It just crashes

Not a bad app, just needs a cool new feature to make it more fun...

This app has done nothing but assist anonymous users in defaming and slandering individuals. It is creates an unsafe atmosphere and puts everyone at an equal risk. If I were president, I would issue an executive order that "Yik Yak" is no longer a thing.

This app used to be pretty good, but then I updated it and found that it does not load no matter where my location is. The app and its reliability for loading does not change whether I am on cellular data or Wi-Fi. There isnt a whole lot of activity in my home area anyways so I have opted to just delete the app from my phone since it is no longer functional.

Not the best app, but not the worst. Ive read some funny stuff on here and had some good conversations. The biggest downfall of this app is that its so dependent on the activity of the community around it, i.e. people go home for summer, the app becomes useless. As any community app does, it also suffers from its share of cranks, bigots, etc.

Want to complain about sexual frustration or how hard it was to poop today? Then this app is for you. Want to say something REAL that challenges people but might go against the status quo? Your post will be deleted. I recommend another form of social media that doesnt suppress youre right to free speech.
